Gone from the judges panel are Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuari, and Ellen DeGeneres. In their place the Idol producers installed Aerosmith frontman, Steven Tyler, and entertainment triple threat, Jennifer Lopez. Moving over to the chair left empty by Simon's departure is Idol vet, Randy Jackson.
Now for the Idol finalists...
As noted previously, there are 13 finalists for the second time in Idol history. This year the voting public had but one opportunity to cast votes for their favorites and that was last week when the Top 24 Idols sang, received judges comments, and then were either voted into the Final 10 Boys/Girls (five of each) or put into a holding pattern in hopes of singing one last time for the judges with the hope of being selected a judge's wild card--a fate bestowed upon three of the Idols.
Confused yet? Well, forget about how we got here, just be glad tonight the Idols sing for your votes and only one will be booted during tomorrow's elimination night. Here are the Idols who will sing for the opportunity to be crowned the 10th Idol in history.
The 10 Idols voted into the finals by your votes are:
- Scotty McCreery - the lone Country Crooner of the Idol bunch
- Thia Megia - a 15-year-old phenom with a voice that belies her age
- Karen Rodriguez - a Latina lovely who captured the hearts of the Idol judges
- Pia Toscano - a Superstar songstress in the making who IS the total package
- Paul McDonald - a bit quirky, but not one to overlook
- Casey Abrams - a magical musician who can play, sing, and entertain like a proven professional
- Hailey Reinhardt - a talented, but inconsistent performer
- James Durbin - this year's Idol Rocker...combines Adam Lambert-like screams with controlled passion
- Jacob Lusk - an emotional singer who sings with the Golden voice of God
- Lauren Alaina - young, big voice, and plays to Steven Tyler
The three wild cards selected by the Idol judges:
- Ashton Jones - a Dynamo diva in the making...could be the second coming of Diana Ross
- Stefano Langone - a near-death motorcycle accident and a sweet voice won over J-Lo
- Naima Adedapo - sings with passion and the desire for a better life (she is a maintenance worker who was shown cleaning toilets in her intro package)
Tune in tonight to watch this talented group of singers as they sing with the hope of becoming the next great pop star.
Until then, I will continue watching TV so you don't have to...
Charlie
